Fueling the Future of Trans-Pacific Connectivity: Our Partnership with the USTDA

Funding Support for Infrastructure Projects

At Hexa Capital Consultancy PLT®, we are committed to transforming the digital infrastructure of Southeast Asia. A cornerstone of this mission is the Malaysia-U.S. (MYUS) Cable System®—an ambitious, high-capacity submarine fiber optic network designed to directly connect Southeast Asia with the United States.

To bring this monumental vision to life, we are proud to partner with the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), a collaboration that marks a significant milestone in advancing secure, cost-effective, and high-speed global digital connectivity. By partnering with USTDA, we secure vital funding that facilitates the development of submarine cable systems, enhancing connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region.

The USTDA Grant: A Catalyst for Development

In November 2023, Hexa was awarded a pivotal feasibility study grant by the USTDA. This financial backing serves as the foundational catalyst for the MYUS Cable System®, supporting the crucial early-stage planning and development required for a project of this scale.

With the support of the USTDA, Hexa conduct a comprehensive feasibility study. This study provides the detailed architectural, commercial, and operational blueprints necessary to guide the successful implementation of the 19,221-kilometer subsea network.

The MYUS Cable System® Advantage

The MYUS Cable System® is poised to be a game-changer for the global telecommunications landscape. By avoiding contested waters and utilizing trusted, highly reliable routing, MYUS offers unparalleled resilience.

Key highlights of the project include:

  • First Direct Link: MYUS will be the first international subsea cable to establish direct connectivity from Malaysia to the United States (via Guam and Florence, Oregon).
  • Unprecedented Capacity: Designed as a 16-fiber-pair open cable system, MYUS will deliver a minimum of 15 Tbps per pair, translating to a massive 240 Tbps of total capacity.
  • Regional Integration: Along its trans-Pacific path, the system will feature strategic landings in Indonesia (Batam, Jakarta, Balikpapan) and the Philippines (Davao), creating international on-ramps for major ASEAN economies.
  • Economic Enablement: The network will directly support Malaysia’s booming digital economy, facilitating the widespread implementation of 5G wireless services, cloud computing, and expansive investments in regional data centers.

A Shared Vision for Secure Connectivity-Access to Strategic Networks

USTDA provides connections to governmental and industry stakeholders, fostering essential partnerships that promote growth and expansion of our services.

The collaboration between Hexa and the USTDA is built on a mutual commitment to establishing trusted and secure communications infrastructure.

"This project will increase access to reliable and affordable digital services across Southeast Asia, including remote and underserved areas, while creating a secure communications link between the region and the United States."Enoh T. Ebong, Director, USTDA

By utilizing world-class system architecture and trusted US-based landing partners like Alaska Communications and GTA, the MYUS project ensures that global hyperscalers, telecommunications carriers, and government entities can exchange data with the highest degree of confidence.

looking ahead

Leveraging USTDA's resources, we conduct comprehensive market assessments, ensuring projects align with regional demand and business sustainability.

The USTDA’s backing has significantly de-risked the MYUS initiative, accelerating our development timeline. Hexa is currently on track to finalize project implementation financing by mid-2025, paving the way for manufacturing and construction to commence.

The MYUS Cable System® is targeted to be Ready For Service (RFS) in end-2028, bridging continents and powering the digital infrastructure of tomorrow.
