He is a senior management professional with 37 years of experience working with GLC, Sarawak Shell, educational and financial institutions, was a board member of several Government bodies and managing director of a trading company. His experience includes finance, project management and contract management. Dato' Dr Azhari also founded SACOFA SDN BHD, one of the most successful telecommunication infrastructure providers in Malaysia. Among others, he was also involved in the initial planning, tender and award of the East West Submarine Cable System. Dato' Dr Azhari also was appointed as Commisioner of MCMC in 2015.
